Good morning to you on this Christmas Eve Day 2017. If you don't get your shopping finished today, then I'm afraid you will have to wait till next year.

Although many times I say or sing: "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas, it's the best time of the year" I have made the discovery that this statement is not necessarily so.
Thinking back over my own life there was a time when I was young, that Christmas was all about getting that set of "Roy Rogers six shooters and holsters" that I saw in either Simpsons or Eatons Catalog. Oh I wanted them so bad, I could feel them in my hands and slapping against my sides as I ran. Then on Christmas morning when it was time to open the presents, what an emotional trainwreck it was, when the gift in the box that looked like it could be the six shooters, turned out to be a pair of Long-Johns. I am sure that one event of seventy some years ago, changed my emotional thought process forever.

Today I think about "Toy Mountain" and how many youngsters will not get that one toy they dreamed about. I think about the "Abused Mother" who has to bring her child to eat at the Salvation Army Food Kitchen, and the Homeless Veteran hanging around the "Mission" looking for a handout. In these cases Christmas is definitely not the best time of the year. But I'm hopeful a pair of mittens, or a hat, or even a pair of Long-Johns could change their outlook on life forever.

Take care of yourself and each other and if you get a moment say a little prayer for those who have not, nor can not.
