HAPPY NEW YEAR

Good morning to you, and the very last day of 2018. The weather network shows that we could get freezing rain tonight, turning to snow overnight and into Jan.1 2019. The temperature now is -6 C with a little breeze out of the East making it feel like -10 C.

For the Square & Round Dancers Dancers, tonight is the Grenville Gremlins New Years Dance with Geoff and Teena Clarke Calling, and Jean & Don Clingin on Rounds.

Adams Aces A1 Club will start back January 7th. 2019.

The Village Squares start on January 9th. 2019. They will also host an Open House for NEW DANCERS Starting January 16th. & 23rd.

The Mississippi Squares "Halfway Dance" in Carleton Place, January 12th. 2019 With Brian & Amy Crawford, Geoff & Teena Clarke & Paul & Judy Adams, Calling and Jean & Don Clingin on Rounds.

The Cookie Club A2 will start Sunday January 13th. 2019 at the RG Hobbs Centre, 2:00 - 4:00 PM.

I would venture a guess that 2019 will be an action packed year for our Square Dance Community and we hope everyone can attend these upcoming Dances.

That is all I have for today and the end of 2018. Take care of yourself and each other and I'll see you on the Dance Floor.

FREEZING RAIN DAY

Good morning, it's a wet Friday so far, but the temperature is about +2 C here in our town so although I haven't been outside yet, I don't think it is freezing.

My seventeenth year of teaching Square Dancing to grade seven and eight students at Frank Ryan is now in the history book. Thank you to all the teachers, staff, and students for making these past five day so enjoyable for me, rewarding and fun for the students. Six, fifty minute classes of between seven and ten squares per day sure can wear this old man down, but the enthusiasm, eagerness to learn and participate, plus the final accomplishments of the students (from Circle Left to Tea Cup Chain) even having to hold a "Dance-off Competition" for a position in the Centre Teaching Square,  is so overwhelming, that fatigue doesn't set in until it's all over. I consider myself to be a very lucky caller to have been granted this opportunity to leave my passion for this Square Dance Movement in the minds of so many over the years. Thanks once again to Frank Ryan Community you are the greatest.

That's all I have for today folks, take care of yourself and each other and I'll see you on the Dance Floor.

COOKIE CLUB SUNDAY

Good morning, to you and the last COOKIE CLUB day for 2018. It looks like it should be a good day for driving as snow or rain is not in the forecast. Tomorrow is going to be okay driving as well, I hope, because I'm back at Frank Ryan.
Today at Cookie Club we will of course, try to get through all the Advanced Calls plus "Split Right & Left Thru",  "Scatter Scoot", & "Scatter Scoot Chain Thru" all really easy but fun to dance. If you can't make the Cookie Club today, remember, we will start back January 13th. 2019.
That's all I have for today. Take care of yourself and each other and I'll see you on the Dance Floor.

VILLAGE SQUARES CHRISTMAS PARTY LAST NIGHT

Good morning and let me tell you it is a cool one outside this morning at - 15 C, feeling like -23 C, and I start in Frank Ryan in a couple of hours so I had better get a move on. Last night at the Village Squares was so good, quite a few former members joining us for the pot-luck and some even got on the floor and danced. Thank you to all for your support of Square Dancing and the Village Squares, I always said, "once a Village Square always a Village Square", I'm sure Joe and Evelyn will have the pictures up on the web site very soon. Also Thank you to Dave & Marie Currie for sharing the Program with us, and to the Club and the Plus Dancers for your generosity, it is greatly appreciated.

Cookie Club will Dance Sunday afternoon and it looks like it will be sunny and warmer than this morning. Take care of yourself and each other and I'll see you on the Dance Floor.

ADAMS ACES CHRISTMAS PARTY

Good morning, did you know tonight is Adams Aces Christmas Party? Well, yes it is! We hope everyone can make it out, if you are not spending some time in warmer climates, or ill. We'll dance for a while and then sit around for a little while and enjoy some comradery, and some food.

Last week I forgot to look at a request of "Don't Turn The Star" on the call "Chain Reaction" so we will look at that tonight, along with a review of "Motivate" and the Christmas present "Scoot Chain Thru".

Someone asked me if I wasn't drawing anymore because of being at the Forge on Friday, the answer is yes I still draw. just not every day. Yesterday we didn't have the Cookie Club so I took a little time in the afternoon and sketched up this old Cowboy.

FRIDAY AT THE FORGE

Another Friday at the forge is in the history book. This is really unbelievable how fast the day flies, when you're having fun.
I was out of bed before 6:00 AM, washed, dressed, coffee, and a dozen Tea Biscuits in the oven before 7:00. Dropped Judy off at the Church at 8:20 and head for the shop, fired up the forge, I looked at the clock and it was noon, and then it was time to head home.
Not knowing where the time went until I got home and showed Judy what I had made, and she said that it was impressive and must have taken a long time to make. I thought, "yes, All Day". Here is the pictures.

I know it's a little rough and not exactly what I wanted, but the next one will be better. One of the toughest things of working with red hot steel, is it is VERY HOT and you can not touch it with your fingers so everything has to be done with tongs. Sort of like threading a needle using long-nose pliers.

We had a great time last night at the Legion with some of the present Square Dancers, past Square Dancers and future Square Dancers, whom want to come out to the Village Squares on the 16th. of January for the New Dancer Open House. It was like old home week, thanks to the Village Squares for inviting us to come along. A great time for Dinner and Dancing with Lauren Hall doing a good job entertaining us, all for $18.00 per person.

Cookie Club will not dance this Sunday Dec.9th. because the Church is having their Christmas Dinner, We will be back to the Cookie Club Sunday December 16th. for the last dance of 2018.
That's all for today, take care of yourself and each other and I'll see you on the Dance Floor.
